Zucco Pesciola, cresta Ongania invernale

Scenic, technical, and panoramic ridge of Zucco Pesciola.

Ongania invernale

The Ongania Ridge is a famous and historic route that runs along a ridge between the Bocchetta di Pesciola to the west and the summit of Zucco di Pesciola to the east. It is an interesting alpine route set in the Dolomitic amphitheatre of the Zuccone Campelli group. First climbed in the winter of 1910, solo, by the renowned alpinist Eugenio Fasana, it has now become a classic adventure climb.

In the summer season the difficulties are not extreme, but tackling it in winter significantly increases the challenge. Climbing the ridge in winter conditions greatly raises the level of difficulty: the route features sharp snow ridges, mixed sections, and snow gullies, offering an engaging ascent with distinctly alpine characteristics and great satisfaction.

PROGRAM:

Departure from Piani di Bobbio (1,662 m), reachable by cable car from the village of Barzio (LC). Continue on foot past Rifugio Lecco (1,779 m) to reach Bocchetta di Pesciola, where the Ongania Ridge begins, leading to the summit at 2,092 m.

From here it is possible to traverse the ridge to the summit of Zuccone Campelli, then descend via the Canale dei Camosci or Canale della Madonnina to the Vallone dei Camosci, making the ascent even more complete. Return to Piani di Bobbio and the cable car.
