Training Day – Snow Science and Avalanche Self-Rescue
A training day designed to gain a deeper understanding of the complex world of snow science and avalanche self-rescue, helping participants approach the winter mountain environment with greater awareness and confidence. The main focus of the day will be emergency management and the techniques required to deal with critical situations.
Topics covered:
Snow science (nivology) and avalanche/weather bulletins
Self-rescue equipment: avalanche transceiver (ARTVA), shovel and probe
Basic use of transceiver, shovel and probe
Procedures in the event of an accident
Emergency assessment and management
Activating organized rescue services
Practical rescue simulations
Required equipment and accessories: Ski mountaineering, snowshoeing, or general winter mountain equipment; avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. Transceiver, shovel and probe can be provided by the organization if needed.
The fee includes: Logistical organization, instruction and guiding by a Certified Mountain Guide, and the use of shared safety equipment.
The fee does not include: Transportation, food, accommodation, lift passes, and anything not specifically listed under “The fee includes.”
