Alternative Haute Route: Val Formazza – Val Bedretto Traverse

An alternative Haute Route compared to the classic Alpine routes, but no less beautiful or challenging. This is a grand circular traverse through Val Formazza and Val Bedretto, spanning the far north of Piedmont in Italy and the Canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

Over the three days, participants will ascend the highest and most significant peaks of the area, offering spectacular views of the Bernese Oberland, Ticino, and the large lakes near the Po Plain. The length of some stages is fully rewarded by the wild, less-frequented environment and the thrilling long descents.
